Jürg Kurmann has more than 30 years of M&A experience with many transactions, both buy-side and sell-side, including a significant number of cross-border transactions. His specialty is the realisation of transactions in complex situations such as operational problems or shareholder disagreements. Jürg Kurmann’s industry experience covers a wide range with a specific focus on life sciences and IT.

Jürg Kurmann has also repeatedly supervised restructuring projects, often in executive responsibility as a board member, managing director or liquidator.

Prior to his studies, Jürg Kurmann worked in operational management in international air freight logistics in Nigeria, the UK and Luxembourg. After his studies, he worked for four years as a strategy consultant and three years as Head of Corporate Development at an internationally active Swiss SME. From 1987 onwards, Jürg Kurmann was active as an independent entrepreneur in international M&A in companies which he founded, mostly with partners.

As a forward-looking succession solution on his own behalf, Jürg Kurmann sold his shares in a larger M&A boutique to his co-shareholders in 2015. Since then, he has supported entrepreneurs and companies in M&A projects and corporate governance issues, primarily in the SME segment. Since July 2019, he has been conducting his M&A activities at Hoffmann & Partner and has joined as an associate partner.

Jürg Kurmann studied business administration and economics at the University of Basel and graduated with a licentiate.
